Songs don't sound as crisp or clear in Ableton than in WMP

Hey guys. So I'm working on a DJ mix in Ableton 8. One thing that's been bothering me is that the songs (320kbps MP3s) don't sound as crisp or clear as they do when I play them in WMP or iTunes. I don't have any effects or anything. I'm just creating an audio track and dropping the song on there. I play it in Ableton and it sounds a little dampened or muffled when compared to WMP or iTunes. Just a bit, but it's noticeable. Any ideas?
Also, while I'm on the subject, is there a good plugin for mastering? I want to get the most crisp clear sound possible out of these tracks while mixing. Thanks for the help!
