Steinberg VST question

Post by alex1fly » Sat Feb 12, 2011 12:54 am

Are Steinberg VSTs Cubase only? Just picked up the Discoveries VST and want to use it within Live. Thanks :)

if you got it as a stand alone it could work... if you copied the file from your friends computer... you might need an installer.

if not, throw it in your VST folder and find out. its not like you'll break the others.

edit: i dunno... its not looking good - http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/so ... s_set.html

"discoveries" is not a VST, it is a collection of presets for steinberg's 'Prologue' synth plug-in, which can only be used in Cubase.

edit: steinberg do make plug-ins that can be used in other hosts, like the HalionSonic workstation. But prologue, mystic, spectre etc. are the synths that come with Cubase and can't be used elsewhere.

Right on. I can't even find the file to put it in the VST folder, if I were to try that. But soon enough I'll have Cubase installed so I'll just use it in there. Thanks!
