Demo + Rewire problems!!!

Post by aldino » Sat Jan 22, 2005 5:06 pm

Hi,
does the demo version support rewire??
As I launch it after installing, an error appears saying:
"You failed to authorize. ReWire support was not installed. Restart Live ti try again."

Any suggestion ??[/img]

Hi aldino,

also in demo mode you can use Live as ReWire slave.
When Live is starting it wants to install its ReWire engine ("Ableton Live Engine") in the Library/Application Support folder.

But to write in this folder you need the corresponding rights so therefore is an authorization tool which seems to fail in your case.

Under what kind of account do you have started Live?

Alex

Hi aldino,

which version of OS X do you have?

Please also check if you have write access to the folder "/Library/Application Support".

When starting Live it tries to check if there is a link to it's ReWire engine.
The reWire engine part of Live is within the Live package.

You could try to copy it manually. Just place an alias of "Live/Contents/Resources/Ableton Live Engine" into "/Library/Application Support". To open the Live package click on it while holding down the "ctrl" key. Please let me know if you would need more detailed instructions.

Alex

solved

Thanks alex,
I solved the problem.
There was a "strange" protection on my rewire file.
I turned it off and everything now works great.

Great program!!!
Links with everything!!!

bye Aldino

Hi Alex and co,

This is a very good tip for macOS X users. I've got the same problem on my Ibook 12'' G4 since 4 or 5 months. I do not understand why the Ableton Rewire Engine can't be installed properly. I contacted the Ableton Support but they don't solve my problem. There's also a big problem with Reason 3 Beta, 'cos their Rewire Engine causes many crashes with Live 4.1...
Is someone at Ableton can mount this tip into the support pages and put this in the Troubleshooting pages of the tutorial ??
Anyway thank you very much and have lot of fun....
