Recording issues!!
Recording issues!!
Hi there
I've recently bought a Tascam US-122 mkII USB audio/MIDI interface and a Supreme CU-1 microphone in order to do some recording. I've setup everything up including having installed drivers, set up the interface as the preference for in- and outputs in Ableton. But when I try to record with the mic, all I get is a "static robotic noise," even though the interface says there's a signal in the input.
What am I missing here?

Forgot to add that... it's enabled as well, so that's not the issue.chrk wrote:Phantom power?So-Fi wrote:What am I missing here?
Re: Recording issues!!
do you have windows 7?
I have a friend with the same tascam product and he has to unplug and plug back in the usb cord and then the noise goes away for a some time (but eventually comes back)
It seems it's a problem with tascam's windows 7 drivers, this is the only workaround I know of.

Re: Recording issues!!
I recommend that you return the interface if possible and use the money to purchase something else.
The reason I say that is because I've used a Tascam US-122, US-144, and US-122 mkii. I was never able to get any of them to operate in an acceptable manner on either Vista or Windows 7. Not to mention driver updates can take years from that company. Because of that I will never purchase another Tascam product, so maybe I'm biased.
Paying slightly more for a reliable product is well worth not having headaches later.
I can vouch for Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 since it's in relativly the same price range. I have used it on XP, Vista, and 7, and on several laptops and desktops, with no issues to speak of.
