4 band dj eq

Post by NS » Wed Mar 02, 2011 6:18 am

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good (3rd party) 4-band "performance/dj" eq?

Or am i better off setting something up with EQ eight's gains + macros?

there was a London school of sound "LSS DJ EQ" around somewhere for free - I can't actually remember if it was 4 band though TBH

IMO there's no reason you couldn't happily do something with EQ8 in a rack if you want to- personally I think it's a good transparent EQ, and for live use personally I think it's best to avoid 3rd party stuff as much as possible as it has traditionally been the source of most problems...especially something like an EQ which you might use on every track

I actually just use EQ3 for DJing and instead of using the instant mapping on my VCM600 I manually map it so that I can control the min/max settings and also map the on/off button so that it's only on when I use it as it does colour the sound

Have a search for Tarekith's racks, he has a fantastic Aallen & Heath Emulation 4 band rack.... Superb!

It's called EQ 3.8, in this pack:

You'll need to use Live 8, preferably the latest version.

You won't look back :-)

I've grouped it in a rack and macro'd the Bass and Low mid together and find it's a very capable thre band eq as well but it's all down to personal preference...

Two different EQs we're talking about. EQ3.8 is the 3 band EQ I made using EQ 8 that mimics EQ3. But I think you're talking about my 4 band Xone emulation? (also in that efx pack btw)
