upgrading to suite: box or download?
upgrading to suite: box or download?
finally decided to upgrade. its a 50 euro difference for box/download and it looks like the EIC2s dont come with the download. i was never really tempted by them before, but am now wondering. .
can anyone out there say it would be worth it?
(btw; i have a few other libraries already that i use in kontakt)

I bought the download but kind of wish id gone boxed... not so much for EIC2 (cant comment, never used) btu a hard copy of the manual would be invaluable.

If you have kontakt, then you aint going to worry about EIC2.

I think session drums and the multi-mic kits are worth to get. Also with the newest update there a some EIC2 sounds using the new AMP which is nice. The raw material can also be an interesting object for the instrument rack.

Re: upgrading to suite: box or download?
i'm not the biggest fan of the box. but hey for the price i don't regret at all buying it. I mic most of the instruments i use but the samples from EIC 2 and Session Drums provide me with a sketch pad before i do the real takes. so again for the price well worth it.
Re: upgrading to suite: box or download?
strange. . it comes with dvds of EIC2 + session drums. would my suite license (download) unlock these? if so its cheaper to get the download and the Suite Box.2be wrote:If it's just for the printed manual, you could also just get the Suite Box. Not a big fan of EIC2...
Re: upgrading to suite: box or download?
I think the download suite doesnt cover EIC2 as that is normally not part of the download.
At least that was the case with Live 7.

... Stickers!!! Don't forget the stickers that come with the boxed version.
Re: upgrading to suite: box or download?
does anybody know more about buying the box later on after purchasing a download version?
I purchased the downloaded version of ableton live 8. If I buy the box for ableton live which comes with the manual, install discs, and EIC 2 (+ stickers!), can I unlock EIC 2? I feel like that its a given that I should be able to unlock EIC 2. Why else would they send it along. It's sort of like, you are paying the difference from download version to boxed version (I think... maybe not as much $). But regardless, when I discovered the possibility of buying the boxed version separately it seemed like a great deal... to get EIC 2 along with the other contents. Otherwise I'm not going to pay $ 40 for a manual and some stickers.
thanks for any thoughts.

Re: upgrading to suite: box or download?
Can’t say I know too much about the download version as I got the boxed version. I did have some problems with some of the sound libraries not installing correctly but they may have produced a newer DVD version since I got mine. Was it worth the hassle? To be honest, I rarely use many of the sounds in the suite. They are a little redundant if you have other plug-ins. I do find sampler great for basic sampling.
Why you don’t get EIC2 in the download is mainly to do with bandwidth and GB’s, like for me 15GB’s would take half a year to download, easier to send on a DVD and less on abletons bandwidth.

Re: upgrading to suite: box or download?
Naturally, downloading the EIC2 would be horrendous. So ableton includes it when you buy the box of ableton live 8... which is for people who already own live 8, but bought it through the download option. Meaning that they give you the discs simply because you can't download them, (and you pay a bit extra for the anyways, and the manual). I emailed customer care and he said that if I bought the box for the EIC 2, I would have to purchase an EIC 2 license. I told him that I owned ableton live 8, via purchasing it as a download. So either we had a miscommunication, or ableton actually give you EIC 2 for $39 (https://www.ableton.com/shop/more_info? ... ber=83971x) for no reason.CFM wrote: Why you don’t get EIC2 in the download is mainly to do with bandwidth and GB’s, like for me 15GB’s would take half a year to download, easier to send on a DVD and less on abletons bandwidth.
