Any recent trance tracks that drive the dancefloor crazy?

Post by Dr. Fluffenstein » Sat Mar 12, 2011 8:36 pm

Can anyone or any dj's here suggest some recent trance tracks that have worked really well on the dancefloor? My arrangement skills need a lot of work so I was hoping to use this as a reference for my own tracks. I hope I don't come across as being un-original, I just want to learn a few things about a good arrangement until I figure out how to do it my own way :). Thanks.

Never been that struck on trance so can't give u any floor destroyers, but I would say, go to a trance night and take notice as to what tracks go down a treat and what tracks don't. Then u can mame better judgements for track selection. Or go find some rare gem somewhere that u think will go down a treat. Then if it does, you will have created that 'what the fuck is this tune called?' response for so many people dancing away. If it doesnt go down well then you've learned the hard way. Not always the worst way though. One of my mates always played really crap music when he was bedroom djing. Then played them in a small club, everyone hated it, he learned, now he's pretty good and relatively successful in our area.

I think he is more after trance / mainstream cross over examples rather than just trance.
Perhaps check out some popular remixes of trance classics?

Most of the trance stuff Ive come across in the last few years that has been popular in ibiza hasnt been your usual 4 to the floor cheesy synths type thing.
Nothing to see here - move along!

Thanks for all the advice. I guess it's worth going to toronto for the next trance event (I'm in a smaller city right now and all they play is top 40), not a big fan of the excessively loud PA systems though which is why I was hoping someone else here has been to one.

@Khazul, I actually dislike cheesy synth trance. Not entirely sure what you meant, but my definition of cheesy is anything generic sounding that abuses overused sounds too much. I prefer the moody progressive stuff as well as the more techy sounding ones. Do you happen to remember the names of any of those tracks you came across?

Thanks for the list of artists gordon.
