MIXING BASICS
Ok this is for people who know a lot on MIXING in Live...I was reading this article on mixing and i kinda was curious about what mixing is all about ...i have a pretty clear idea on what mixing is hence the word...My question is..IS MIXING ALL ABOUT EQING TRACKS>?...cuz this article talks alot about EQ...and im guessing Eq is high low mid frequency...and then i see these number which i have no idea what that about YET...like 0db for example which it says to start at...I DON'T HAVE A ANALOG MIXER BUT I KNOW LIVE HAS THESE EQING TOOLS ...CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME INFO MORE ON THIS ...because i want to start learning how to EQ tracks...ALSO IS BETTER TO MIX WHILE YOUR CREATING TO GET THAT SOUND OR AFTER OR IS IT JUST PERSONAL PREFERENCE?

Mixing is all about balance. EQ is merely a tool to help if necessary. In regards to your question on mixing while creating the thing you want to focus on is your arrangement and how it serves your song. While you'll need to adjust faders here and there for playback, a good arrangement will almost mix itself. Pay close attention to how each sound interacts with one another both spectrally and spatially.
