Akai mpk49 help
Akai mpk49 help
I just bought the akai mpk49, and I'm clueless as how to use it with ableton or any program for that matter. Up until now I've been using fl studio but I figured I'd try ableton because it came with the product. Plus it feels like the keyboard is delayed when I'm using massive. Is there some sort of peliminary adjustments I have to make with my pc? I'm totally knew to midi. Please help. I usually don't start threads on forums but I don't even know what I'm looking for.

Go to Options/Preferences and make sure that you have the MPK49 set as a control surface and that it's set as an input with Track and Remote turned on like in this screenshot.

You should also have the MPK49 set to the Live preset on the little blue LCD display.
If you feel a delay from when you press a key and when you hear a sound you probably have your buffer size set too big.
Again, in Options/Preferences under the Audio tab this time you can set your buffer size to something smaller like 256. You will always have a delay if you're NOT using ASIO. Messing with the buffer size won't help if you're just using MME/DirectX which was not designed for stuff like this.

Re: Akai mpk49 help
thanks for that man. So I'm guessing every program is different? Cause I didn't see a preset for fl studio. Which is why I tried ableton. And as for assigning knobs and sliders is there somewhere I can learn about that? Like with plugins too?

to manually map any midi controller click the 'MIDI' box on the top righthand side to enter midi map mode.
When in this view click any mappable parameter u want to control and move the desired knob or fader. It should then be mapped
