Re: A few surprises!
Wow, thats a pretty cool offer for non-suite owners to jump on.
In a way I feel a bit stung, having in the last few months bought both Suite and M4L seperately.
Oh well, can't win them all.
EDIT: thinking out loud here, i really hope Live 9 includes a Max runtime so that people who dont want to pay for full Max For Live will at least be able to use devices made by other people (obviously without the ability to edit them).
It seems like a lot of Live functionality going forward is going to depend directly on Max, it would be an aweful shame if "Live Only" users were left out in the cold without that functionality.
Also, it would encourage development of M4L devices, as there would be a much wider potential user/customer base to appeal to. It could end up being a fairly big health market in its own right.

Free M4L with Suite 8. Not bad. Should ruffle some feathers.

I think if it came as a free update, I would like it even more

Re: A few surprises!
If that was the case: on one hand it'd be pretty cool, on the other hand it would be a serious kick in the balls to anyone who paid up for M4L before version 9. Suite was pricey, M4L was pricey, etc.... Some people have a fair bit of money invested in Ableton and it'd be a downer to have that devalued overnight.killingtime wrote:My guess is M4L will be part of Suite 9
There would need to be some concession to existing customers of both products. maybe a free 9 upgrade to Suite8+M4L owners, as a "thank you" for, you know, actually adopting the damn thing early on. Or maybe even a complimentary Max 5 license.
Im not too bothered really, it's just I feel that existing customers should always be looked after, rather than having the newest blow-ins always getting the best deals. It does a lot for customer moral to get a nice "thanks for taking a gamble on this technology early on".
EDIT:
See, this is what I mean, as a paid up Live Suite 8 and Max For Live user, what am I getting?Own Suite 8? Sign up for the Ableton Newsletter to receive a 30%-off coupon for Max for Live.
I mean, aside from Granulator of course, which is really rad
Re: A few surprises!
Meh, I have Suite 8, but I cant aford both the Live 9 Suite upgrade and Max for Live 30% off, this year. Because, other then that, im also getting an iPad, a SoftStep, some basic cheep studio gear, and some esential vsts. Working 50% as musician, this is what I can aford in one year.Rationalizer wrote:Ableton wrote:Get Maximized! Really hoping for a free M4L runtime.
Could even pay a litte bit for it. Anyone remember Reaktor Session? I have an old license for that.
Max standalone can export locked plugs. (runtime)
Its strange if M4L will not go for this in the future. The Live user base is huge, and it would bring a lot of attention to Ableton.
