Is it possible to modulate guitar into a bass?
Is it possible to modulate guitar into a bass?
Ok so i have a fender guitar I can plug in to my computer and record from. I want to know is it possible to Modulate the guitar into a bass sound. Also is it possible to record guitar into midi?
Re: Is it possible to modulate guitar into a bass?
You can not turn a guitar tone into a midi signal with out a midi guitar with a converter.
As far as changing the tone of the guitar into a bass just use an ocatvor, Jack White does this to make his guitar sound like a bass

Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music

Try recording the guitar and then pitching the sound down an octave or two! Use the "transpose" knob on the Sample pane in the Clip viewer at the bottom (you'll have to select your clip first).
Not sure how good it'll sound, but it'll at least get some notes in the bass register. Make sure you're tuned pretty well, as this should exaggerate any tuning errors. I imagine having a higher sampling rate would be ideal as well, so record your guitar with as high a rate as you reasonably can.
It won't be the same as having a real bass guitar but it might get you started at least. Or you could just make really funky distorted bass sounds

I've had surprisingly good results just dropping it down an octave in the past.

You can turn ANY audio signal into MIDI, even polyphonic ones. http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?i ... cts_editor
I recently discovered this tool and it is surprisingly good working. You can even strum chords and change the pitch of every single note of it. Crazy shit.
