Operator question

Post by mistercal » Fri Apr 08, 2011 3:07 pm

I got my Novation Nocturn 25 today and have spent hours trying to figure it all out. Ive got all the knobs asigned to it i just cant controll operator with it. Operator is asigned to the drum pads and I want to use the actual keyboard to play notes with operator. Does anyone know how? Thanks

You need a track with Operator on it. Arm that track for recording and set its input to the Nocturn 25. Start with the MIDI channel set to "All channels."

Make sure that the Nocturn has "track" enabled in MIDI preferences. This should be all you need.

Operator will play whatever MIDI notes get into that track. Your Nocturn should produce these, but if it isn't, then something isn't set up right. Can you, for example, record some notes from it into a clip?

If you can record notes from the drumpads but not the keys, then the problem is that the keys aren't sending notes.

Could you maybe post a screenshot of what the setup looks like? Maybe the MIDI prefs window as well? It'd make it easier to see what's going on.

Best of luck!

make sure your I-O (input/output) view is visible, and set input for the track with operator to be your nocturn
