how to map MPK25 to Max For Live parameters

This seems a little silly, but how would I go about mapping my MPK25 to Max For Live parameters? My understanding is that I can't just do this the regular way because everything is already mapped, but I tried using one of the generic presets, which I assumed would be empty and have the same problem. Any ideas what is going wrong here?

Any ideas? Am I really that inept? I seem to remember hearing of some tricks needed with pre-mapped controllers and Max For Live, as in this video tutorial: http://vimeo.com/7852405.

Finally figured it out. I needed to turn "remote" on in the MIDI sync preferences. I'm not sure I entirely understand this, but it's now working as expected.
