BPM

Post by canez » Wed Apr 20, 2011 10:49 pm

This is probably one of the most stupid questions posted on the forum, so I'm genuinely really sorry ha!

Erm so I've got my drum beats in Ableton and the BPM is currently at 60.00 (in the top left corner) - I drag some vocals in and they then convert to 60.00BPM too.

Ha, why? How do I keep the vocals at 125 but the drums at 60?

This is the hardest question to Google as well, feeling like a major idiot right now.

Haha, Thank you!

Alice.

turn warp off for the vocals to play them at their original bpm. if you want them to double time over the drums though you might want to set the drum tempo to 62.5. or hey, you might just like the way they sound in that tempo combination.

I need Warp on cos of the Complex Pro option. I'm making the pitch of the vocal a little higher - but the only way it doesn't fuck up and sound weird is if I use the Complex Pro option and change the settings of Formants and Envelope. Is there another way of doing it?

Thanks for replying :D

You could set the BPM to 125 and then set the drums to half speed. There is a little :2 button i believe near the warp button that reduces the bpm the clip plays back at by 1/2
