hi
I have live4 and an ibook g4 with 1.256 gig of ram (the max) however still when i try to record an arrangement it cuts out occassionally. The cpu bar never goes over 55% yet still the red "D" light flashes and i get small glitches.
This only happens on one of my songs which has about 6 tracks each with about 2-3 effects on them. Everything else works fine.
Surely with that much ram it should be able to handle it? I dont understand either because the cpu bar is not maxing out.
Does anyone know how i can better the performance and get rid of any glitches?
Thanks

have you tried adjusting your latency?big_loada wrote:hi

Flashing D means HD overload ... , tried with an external 7200 rpm FW drive ? Live writes directly to HD . Ibooks (like mine as well) come with a slow 4200 rpm HD.

Hello big_loada
I've been having similar problems, with similar specs. There is one piece I am working on that is getting pretty complex and I could not move from scene to scene without glitches etc.
Actually, I get glitches/stutters quite commonly in general...would never wanna jam or perform with current performance!
My Pbook has the 4200 rpm drive....
So I copied the self contained song folder on an external (7200 rpm) drive...
Everything was smooth...couldn't make it glitch if I tried. So it made me feel more hopeful.
I didn't see this kind of improvement with the Live Performance Test running from the external HD so I sorta thought it wasn't gonna help but I was wrong.
