Audio doesnt render

Post by andyb19844 » Tue Apr 26, 2011 12:48 pm

sometimes my audio wont export! I will go to arrangment mode and make the looper thingy encapsulate the whole song and save it , and it keeps shooting duds out with 0 mins on them . WIerd why does it do this?

I am pretty sure it is a bug.
Mine does this too so I never close the set before previewing the mix-down in the Live browser.
It usually only does it the first time and I can tell based on how fast it renders.
Another bug I have encountered is that Live will render a few measures less than where my end marker is. I have found that by moving the end brace right before I render solves this problem.
I also have not tried the newest version of 8 so this may be corrected already.

Live exports by what is highlighted, not by what is inside the loop brace. As such, Live does not necessarily render the stuff in loop brace itself, however by moving the edges of the loop brace it will highlight everything within it so it's a useful way to choose what you want to render. It sounds to me like perhaps you are clicking on some individual point in the track before exporting, and as such Live tries to render that single point in time (hence the 0 sec file).

You can check before rendering by looking in the dialogue box where it asks you about dither/render as loop etc - at the bottom it should say something like "Live will render the section between 2.1 and 114.1" or something like that, based on the timeline.

Also make sure that back to arrangement button is not highlighted, this has caught me out a few times in the past.

It's one of the button in the transport bar at top of screen, three bars with an arrow pointing at bars.
This highlights red if you are overiding what is playing in arrangement view in session view

I won't say RTFM, because a lot of people think that's wrong. I will say that pages 44 to 50 of the manual will explain in pretty good detail everything that you need to know about exporting audio.
