Akai LPD8 causing crackles and drop outs,HELP :)

Hi all,

I just purchased the Akai LPD8 for all of it's nice knobs only to find that it's causing MAJOR crackles and distortion, just by having it hooked up to Ableton, and especially when I try to control a fader etc. Has anyone else experienced this and figured out how to fix? There are no drivers to install or firmware upgrades according to Akai.

I'm on Win7 btw, and my Korg Nano works seamlessly.

have you tried adjusting the buffer size of your soundcard/interface... maybe dial it up a bit.

i can't imagine how the LPD8 could be adding the pops (directly) since it's only a MIDI controller.

Is it possible it is interfering somehow with your audio amplifier?

Well, I think it might have been an IRQ issue as when I changed usb outlets, no crackling! Weird huh? Haven't had that in a long long time and this is a brand spanking new ADK computer, so even doubly weird...

But good news is I got the nanokontrol and the lpd8 working at same time and VAZ modular within abe8, so fun to be hand soon

^ yeah me too.

the LPD8 is pretty cool.

on a slightly related note... yesterday i was listening to some music at work through the front panel audio on my pc... i plugged in a flash drive to copy 26 Gigs of data as backup for something... if i paused the music, i could literally hear the data transfer in the headphones

so i can see where USB might be the culprit.

check your dpc latency with a dpc latency checker.

the lpd 8 may be pushing it over the edge.
