howdy,
i own ableton suite 8 and just installed the guitar section of the "essential instrument collection". i did this in effort to get the "amp" because i was thinking since it is not right now in my ableton it is maybe on that disk. buuuut it is not
can anyone help me out on where to find or install the "amp" with those rock and bass and metalmodes?

i did already check there. that is also the place where it is in the ableton video for amp. but mine isn't there. it says in the audio effects from up to down "audio effect rack", then "auto filter", "auto pan" and then "beat repeat" but no "amp" in there. went something wrong with the installation or do i have to 8.2 (don't know which 8. it is at) or something like that?

i would either try to reinstall suite....or write ableton tech support....they are really decent about getting back to you(or at least they were with me)...as long as you have "SUITE 8" you should have "amp"....are all of the other instruments there? operator? analog? sampler?

Get the latest download and install that one. Make sure when you open Live that it's the latest version (it doesn't overwrite the older version).
When you get Amp and want to use it w/ a guitar my suggestion is to put an EQ 8 on that track and roll off nearly all the highs, basically just a low pass filter. This will help remove most of the digital, awful sounding artifacts when doing high gain stuff. Once you do that Amp is actually pretty usable for guitar, just play around to find the sweet spot in your LP filter.
