effect recording
effect recording
Could anyone point me in the direction of the best way to alter an audio clip through effects? Lets say I have a channel dedicated to leads. Certain effects I only want to impact specific lead samples. But as I drop the effects into the channel, the whole channel is affected unless I specifically turn the effect off. So far I basically have taken a channel dedicated to mixing down effects into samples, then re-recording into the leads column when I get the sound I want. Its combersome. Any other recommendations? Cheers!

yes - automation, or send and return tracks. it's all in the manual.skatr2 wrote:Any other recommendations? Cheers!

Another solution is to use an Audio Effect Rack in order to create parallel effects chains. Then you can route your lead sound to one chain or another using the Chain Select Ruler. See chapter 17 in pages 240 & 241 of the user manual, you will find some interesting examples.
All the best.

Thanks a bunch TS. I will check that out. Still trying to learn a lot of these features, so I appreciate the direction point.
Re: effect recording
Racks is definitely the way to go - either effects racks as suggested, using clip envelopes to select the correct effect for the clip using the rack's chain selector.
The approach I use in my live set is using instrument racks in the same way. Each chain contains an instrument and it's own effects chain, and I'm selecting the correct chain for each clip using the clip envelopes. This way I can have a single track which handles e.g. the lead synth on every tune, but using a different instrument. Saves on screen real estate and also means my lead synth is always on the same channel fader on my controller.
