Sound cuts out and then starts again - FirePod / Vista

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and if so how did you manage to resolve it?

I don't know if it's equipment specific but I'm using a PreSonus Fire Pod on a dual core Sony Vaio running Vista.

The audio will just stop abruptly and the machine appears to freeze. a second or two later the indicator lamp on the fire pod will turn red briefly and then blue again as if the unit has reset itself then the sound will come back and the program will carry on as if nothing happened.

It happens with any audio software, not just live, and only started quite recently.



(P.S. "Get a Mac" is NOT a viable option!)
