Is there any way to route Traktors effects into Ableton

Post by flipvert » Thu May 19, 2011 7:11 am

I have made my own .ALS file, which has dummy clips and macrosd various VST's
This is all Midi Mapped to a controller

everything is lovely.

But...

having used traktor the other day, I was thoroughly impressed with the effects.
Is there any way to have traktor in the background and then use ableton as normal, and once assigned be able to use ONLY the Traktor effects from Traktor with the audio playing in ableton?

I presume sitting at work the easiest way would be to have both open and route the audio via the audio settings somehow?
I have an Emu 161m soundcard if I have to do it with wires.

but I'm hoping there is a way to just click on the right ins and outs, and voila at a keypress I have a traktor effect over my ableton audio.

You could route stereo outputs in Ableton to the inputs in Traktor and back into Ableton I guess using Soundflower or Jack and then the master/cue as your Emu.

Next fun step is getting both apps to play nice with midi sync so the FX quantize correctly in Traktor :P

So long as you have a controller set up in Traktor I cant see any reason why you couldn't background it while playing with the FX (pain trying to see whats happening though :-S)

P.S. Guessing the latency might be dog poo with that setup and CPU gonna Skyrocket.
