Launchpad Step Seq Automatically Resets

I just recently picked up a Launchpad and have been messing with the step sequencer. One little annoying thing I've found so far is that, when loading a previously saved sequence, it doesn't communicate with the Launchpad to show what is playing. The sequence will play correctly if I don't touch anything, but when I hit a button on the Launchpad the whole sequence resets to default. Any way around this? I'd like to be able to pull up previously worked out sequences for live use, but I still want to be able to manipulate them with the LP without starting from scratch (otherwise, what's the point, right?). Any ideas? Thanks.
