Velocity sensitive in VST plugins (e.g Sylenth)

Post by zetaborealis » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:00 am

Hi,
so I'm having trouble getting velocity sensitivity from instruments whilst using ableton, I figured out how to get it for instruments such as simpler and operator and instruments that came with ableton, but for example, when using Sylenth1v2.2, or most other Vst's even if I set the velocity control on the clip launch panel, I get no velocity sensitivity.
Could someone please help me out?

thanks

Velocity sensetivity is not global in sylenth.
I mean that it is not hardwired to filter cutoff or Master output, but it has to be programmed with each preset.
Alot of presets in sylenth are not programmed with velocity controling anything.
You can check if a preset has a velocity sensetivity parameter simply if you look at the down right section (Misc 1, Misc 2) and you see the name velocity and what it affects.

Another tip about velocity sensitivity in Sylenth is that if you click your mouse at the top of the onscreen keyboard (the one at the bottom of the Sylenth interface) it plays the note at low velocity and as you move down it plays it at higher velocities.

The default patch 001: ARP 303 SAW for example modifies the Cutoff AB according to velocity. You can change it to change anything you want, like Volume AB etc.
