On the Spectrascope you can see how the biggest peaks are reduced. Now I don't have Logic. How do I do this in Live? The Redux doesnt have clip level. Is it just the same as using a limiter?
How aboot this? :)

Funny story, I played a gig last night and some guy who watched my video came up to me after and said "your video was awesome, but you're kind of a transient nazi aren't you?"

If you post the Timothy Allen video link, I might be able to help.

Stick Abletons Limiter on the channel followed by the Smexoscope then reduce the ceiling on the Limiter to tame the transients

I made an instrument rack if anyone wants it?

hey good look on the s(M)exoscope!!

Utility > Ozone 4 (limiter only) > Utility > s(M)exoscope = WIN :!:

As a quick test I used the first Utility to narrow a terrible snare sample, the limiter to chop off an unnecessary peak, the second utility to adjust the volume of the snare, and the s(M)exoscope to monitor the whole thing along with watching the VU meters and of course listening. After A/B-ing I ended up gaining about 2db of headroom and got a louder/punchier snare even with modest settings.

Works great being able to see this stuff while you're listening.

Gonna save me loads of headache, thanks Inch Lo!

Has anyone found a plugin that behaves in the same manner for peak clipping as Logic's Bitcrusher? I understand how to do it with multiple devices in Live or with just a limiter, but it would be useful to find a plugin that can cut peaks with a single slider/knob and no change in volume.

So...I was able to figure out that Fabfilter's Pro-L has a feature where you can hold alt down while raising the input gain and the output volume will stay the same.

But then you're limiting, not clipping. :)

Unless ProL has a clipper in it...

Thats interesting. I would thought RMS. But im mostly just working on transients. Though, music is dynamic by definition, so flattening and even out the mix to much, might be a step away from musical expression, if done wrong. Like brickwall limiting compression.

I thought you said in your video that a limiter would do the same thing?

Does anyone know if this will work as Logic's Bitcrusher to trip peaks?

T-Racks Clipper

Looks like a clipper and NOT a limiter. I've struggled with the Waveshaper.

This is one of the last puzzles I need to solve before I stop using Logic and I'm completely Live. The Enveloper in Logic was another but the Sonnox Transmod does the trick (thanks again Tim). Ableton just need to build some proper metering devices, an Exciter and a hybrid Spectrum/EQ8 and we're almost there. Not forgetting curved automation.

Doesn't Live's saturator have a clipper built in?
