Looking for audio interface: specific requirements
Looking for audio interface: specific requirements
I'm looking for an external audio interface for my MacBook Pro, to use with Ableton to play live.
The requirements:
- Portable
- Firewire 800 connection (all my USB ports are full)
- I only need 2 stereo OUTs (one for pre-cueing, one for the audience)
- Bus-powered would be cool (don't know if that exists though)
- Low latency
Recommendations please?
And ... has anyone used the Apogee Duet (first version)? If so, how do you rate it?

Re: Looking for audio interface: specific requirements
Duet 2 should work for you
edit: i have Duet at the moment, its ok, nothing more imo... for some reason it drains a litte cpu power which is pretty bad when working on bigger projects...

Re: Looking for audio interface: specific requirements
My 2 USB ports are taken up by my Novation Launchpad & ReMOTE ZeRO SL Mk-II ... The Duet 2 is USB-only if I'm not mistaken. That's why I prefer FireWire (or ExpressCard/34 if that's possible)Auton wrote:Duet 2 should work for you

If you're on mac, this tiny bastard is just what you need
Behringer FCA202
Just be careful with input, no preamps.
I just plug a koasspad 3 or a GT-10 and it's cool.
If you got a mixer to plug in the audio, good.
Minimum specs but so efficient
And so cheap! you're not gonna ruin yourself

Re: Looking for audio interface: specific requirements
saffire pro 24 or the dsp version
Expandable
Lots of ouputs
Great preamps if you ever need them
Low latency (I have the pro 40 and its great)
The headphone bus goes supper loud and clean
Cheaper then then the motu
