Looper starts recording when the instrument starts playing!
Some hardware loopers have the following feature: the looper detects when an audio-signal comes in and starts recording automatically. That way you don't have the problem to hit the button/footswitch and start playing your instrument at the same time!

You can adjust that inside Live, under Looper's preferences and the time signature of the Live Set.
