need help organizing some of my files

i need help organizing some of my files on my computer i am fairly new to abelton and i don't want to mess with any live sets i have been working on so if there is any tips or suggestions please let me know, i would like to make new folders and keep things neat, i have a lot of downloaded samples and i would like to organize them, i don't want to move them yet for fear of messing with the live set they pertain to

One option is to open a set from each project you want to keep. Click Manage File from file menu, then hit the Manage Project button. Amongst other things, it shows you how many external files are used in all the sets in that project and gives you an option to copy them into the project folder (Collect Into Project). It can do the same for samples from the library as well.

I think this the safest way, but it will duplicate all the external sample files you've used.

You can also try to locate missing files with the file management tools. It's worked quite well for me when I've accidentally moved samples and then opened a set that uses them. Don't think I risk doing it in that order deliberately though.
