Here's the scenario...
Attempting to run a completely redundant Ableton Live 8 setup for live performance backing tracks... Here is the setup.
Macbook Pro w/ Ableton Live 8, latest generation - MASTER
M-Audio 410
Macbook Pro w/ Ableton Live 8, one generation old - SLAVE
M-Audio 610
Radial SW8 for Audio Switching
The Radial is running great, accepts the key input and switches inputs/outputs when the A rig goes down...
Now the issue is getting Playback Synced on Ableton.
I've tried the following....
A) Hardware MIDI Sync
Midi Cable out of the Master into the Slave's interface and activated Sync on the OUT on the master's MIDI Interface and Sync IN on the slave interface in Ableton's MIDI/Sync Preferences.
This works a little bit, for the first 5 tracks with major latency... But any tracks after a certain point in the playback timeline DO NOT start on the slave machine, but just send the transport to 0.
B) Network MIDI Sync
Attempted network midi sync via osx's audio/midi setup and the same steps as above except with sync out/in on the network midi in ableton.
This gave 0 results, nothing at all. Both were "paired" in Audio/MIDI Setup and the outbound sync signal can be seen in Ableton, but not the incoming sync signal.
Also I've done this all over cat6 cable, standard and crossover.
Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be on either count?
I've only been using the "sync" options and not the "remote" option in Ableton, would this be a possible solution?
Note: this is only to control playback, there are no paramaters changing or any sync otherwise. Just trying to get the songs to start/end at the same time.
Both sessions are IDENTICAL, aka created on one computer, saved, and transfered to the second. No guess work involved.
