video files won't load in windows 7

I've got a new laptop running 64 bit Windows 7. Using Live 8 on it seemed to be going fine until I tried loading a .mov video file. The message appears at the bottom of the screen saying "could not be read . may be corrupt or unlicenced" this happens fot all .mov files.Audio files are fine, what's going on ?
