Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
They're just like a sustain (non-latching) type footpedal.
You might feasibly be able to use the amp switching outs on an FCB1010, but they would probably behave odd since they're a latching type, unless you can assign things to respond in a latching type way on the clip you want to do something too. I don't really see the point either since you could just set the FCB1010 to send out a MIDI note/CC toggle/etc to do the same thing anyway using less cabling!

Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
P.S. What for? So you can assign one to say the Ableton looper? Or to trigger MIDI overwrite? Or advance scene with no hands? Or one of millions of other functions without having to buy an FCB1010 which takes up lots of floor space, and you may want a separate moveable little footswitch. I just got an APC40 and am looking forward to being able to trigger something without having to use my FCB which is mostly assigned to guitar stuff and a bit combersome to kick sideways into a better position whilst playing!
Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
I've used the Boss FS series footswitches w/ success. The FS-5 is a dual one w/a very small footprint.

I use the Boss FS-6. They are nearly indestructible. Also got a good grip on the floor and stay at their place.
No problem with behringer in general, but i would definitely buy nothing from behringer i regularly step on.

Don't knock it if you've never had one. The FCB1010 is a great foot controller at a great price. I never hesitate to suggest one, however, it's a bit overkill to use for the APC40.noland wrote:I use the Boss FS-6. They are nearly indestructible. Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
I'm not a big fan of behringer stuff in general, but their FCB1010 I've had for ages and it's survived flying audience members, being thrown around, stamped on, rinsed with beer, filled with dust, and generally abused and never missed a beat. Thought about buying a spare a number of times, but it's still going strong. Only thing is the paint job was a little dull, and wasn't in keeping with my Fuzz Probe and Cosmichorus...noland wrote:No problem with behringer in general, but i would definitely buy nothing from behringer i regularly step on.

Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
The APC40 foot controller slots is a single MIDI CC (two actually since there are two slots). You can't connect a MIDI controller to an APC or get more than one MIDI CC# from the foot controller slots.Mixikyr wrote:Boss FS-6 is not what I'm looking for, wouldn't this type would only allow me to trigger 1-2 functions (without complex mapping)? I was just stating the Behringer as an example because it was one with a lot of pedals. I was just wondering if APC40 foot pedal slots only handles one midi control.
Like let's put it this way, if I put up Midi Mapping in Ableton and plug in a multi pedal, will every pedal I press show up as the same midi CC?
What does this mean? Whats amp switching outs? I'd rather have this method through the APC40 than buy a midi cable into my audio interface btw.Piplodocus wrote:You might feasibly be able to use the amp switching outs on an FCB1010,
lol, that makes sense but I was asking because, seeing that APC40 is not keyboard... it was a weird design consideration, something like adding a crossfader to a keyboard. I'm sure people can find use for anything extra but was it really essential. :/ I thought no since I tried searching up and not many people really seem to use it.Piplodocus wrote:P.S. What for? In contrast, USB ports on the Akai EIE was an excellent idea that will surely be useful to many.

Good to know. I worked for them about ten years ago, and its nice to see them improving. i used a bcr for some years - great controller, in its league still unmatched - but i always knew i have to handle it with careAceLuby wrote:Don't knock it if you've never had one. Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
There's an important but undocumented feature of the APC40 foot pedals: If you don't assign them, they do interesting things by default. One of them launches the current clip; the other launches the current scene (I think).
The "launch current clip" one is particularly interesting because it lets you turn any clip, MIDI or audio, into a mini-looper.

Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
They're either on or off, they're not clever; just designed so you can use the tip to ground switching outs to channel switch a standard non-MIDI guitar amp head, whilst using all the more complicated FCB1010 MIDI to change all your MIDI FX, or trigger stuff. To own a 10 button MIDI foot controller with 100 patches, and only want to use it to switch 2 latching switches, not the main MIDI connection which is its main purpose and what it was designed for seems a little peculiar to say the least?!?!?!Mixikyr wrote: What does this mean? Live relevant things: Suite 12, MacBook M1 Max, RME UFX II (kext drivers), Push 1

Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
Any reason you wouldn't want to just connect the FCB1010 to a MIDI input? This is what I do and it allows for a lot of flexibility... once you get the FCB1010 set up that is.Mixikyr wrote:Oh yes, now I get it. It's only 2 CCs. So I guess the idea in my head can't be possible.
Thanks guys.

Re: APC40 Foot Pedals
Why are people thinking the fcb is fragile. This thing is built like a tank I've had mine for 10 years or so and gig with it weekly. Other than the rubber feet falling off and having to recalibrate it once in a while it has been most excellent.
