Getting "out of memory" without any VSTs & referenced audio

Post by niemandswasser » Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:47 am

I have been fighting the whole night with a track that suddendly wouldn't open anymore. Live (8.2.2) would soak up to 2.5 GB of RAM and then give me the well-known "out of memory"-error. I systematically tried to get rid of all potentially RAM-consuming VSTs like Kontakt (by deleting them from the VST-folder) but nothing had any effect. Then I even started removing big audio-files from their referenced folders - nothing! Finally I opened the Live-set (without any audio-files contained) on my laptop where I have only Live installed, no additional VSTs, so there would be absolutely no data for Live to load. Again the file magically soaks up the 2.5 GB, then at a point the RAM-load slowly decreases a bit and Live crashes :-(
What the hell is Live filling the memory with?
