I am trying to record the output from another program but can't seem to get the routing set up correctly. When using my laptop's internal audio card, I can use DirectX and record the output from WinAmp just fine for insance, but with ASIO using the FW410 I get nothing on Live's input meter. I can see the levels in the ASIO FW410 control panel so I know the signal is there. The only option that shows up in Live is Ext In which only shows the Analog In ports from the 410. Is it possible to get it to record what is routed to outbound?
Thanks.

I don't know of any software configuration that will do it, but you could try running a cable from the output of your system's sound card to the inputs on your interface.
If you're trying to get an mp3 into Live, just use Winamp to bounce the mp3 to disk as a .wav and then import it in Live normally.

Ugh, nooooo. When using my laptop's internal sound card, this works fine?!? I can record the outbound audio from my machine, but not with the 410? Could this really be true? No way to do it?
Of course I can jump through hoops. Switch to my internal sound card. Plug a cable from out to in. Use a third-party program to rip an entire mp3 to wav when I only want a snip for a loop. But alas, it works on the other sound card - perhaps I need to check in with M-Audio...
