I had this issue for a couple of weeks now... it doesn't happen all the time but the problem came back enough for me to post it.
When I open Live, all the usb devices already plugged in the machine are recognized and appear in the preference's tab "MIDI/Sync". But everything that I plug after that is not recognized and sometime (not always...) Live will not notice if I unplug an already recognized device. I have to shut down and restart Live and everything is there but if I unplug something and plug it back, the same problem happens.
I was considering it might be the hubs I'm using but sometime I would unplug a whole hub and live would think that the devices that were on this hub are still plugged...
As I am typing this topic, I made some tests and the problem came... and now it's gone. Everything works fine. I try to think that it is solved but I did nothing in particular so it will come again.
Anyone experienced that? Any solution?
Live is updated 8.2.2

Re: Problem when I plug a usb device when live is running
i have had some issues with some controllers and soundcard.....some controllers wouldn't work on the same hub as my sound card....so i had to separate some things from other things....particularly a fast track pro and a maudio axiom 25....for me, do not work on the same usb hub....so i run my axiom on its own port, separate from everything else....i have read up on it a little, and i think it has to do with one usb port not having enough juice to power a bunch of controllers etc. on its own...people have suggested getting a powered usb hub...or like the axiom, you can buy a separate plug for it.

Thanks eddiex.
I do have powered hubs. I understand that I have to be careful about what is plugged where and how many devices requires some amount of juice. I'll look upon it.
Macbook Pro 15" have only 2 usb port (ridiculus...) so I'm limited there...

my understanding is controllers that have lights, like the launchpad, or crazy blue screens, like my axiom25...that type of thing, phantom power.....if you have a bunch of these devices, it taxes the bus, so you either have to get a powered usb hub, or start powering your devices...otherwise they act up....here is an article i read on the subject http://www.djtechtools.com/2010/01/25/u ... j-hi-spee/
