How can I save settings from a third party Plug-in?

Post by Dhak » Fri Sep 02, 2011 12:14 am

In this case i'm using Camel Audio Alchemy in Ableton Live. Now, say I create a new midi track, open up Alchemy and choose some strings I like. I then type in some midi notes and voila I have a midi clip playing the alchemy strings. But when I close out of Ableton, re-open it, and play the same exact midi clip the strings setting from Alchemy is no longer there. It will still play the midi notes I typed in but using the alchemy default setting.

I've tried reading up on this, i've tried looking on youtube for videos, i've tried right clicking on alchemy and grouping into an instrument rack, but no matter what it will not save my settings.

How can I save these string settings so that when I open up Ableton they will be there, not the shitty default sound. From what I read the grouping into an instrument rack should have worked but maybe I didn't do it correctly.

Can someone explain in easy to understand terms how I can do this? Or direct me to a video that can show me?

Thanks!

Anyone have a solution, I tried grouping everything in a instrument rack and saving that setting but when I closed out of ableton and re-opened it still wouldn't load the proper string setting in Alchemy. I'm at a loss

Your method is correct.. The only thing i can think is to rack it first then load your preset and save to Live library or whever

I do this with massive all the time...might be a bug specific to Alchemy
I would contact them so they are aware and could possibly fix the issue

What OS are you on? Works fine here with Alchemy 1.20, Live 8.2.5, win7 x64

OSX 10.6

Do you have to do anything special or do you presets save automatically? I figured out how to save settings from Alchemy itself, so at least I can recall them again, but it would be nice if Ableton would remember and I didn't have to write down which settings goes to which tracks.

No, don't have to do anything special.
Load Alchemy on a track, load a preset and tweek or build a patch from scratch.
Save the set
Quit

Open live
Load the set

Everything is as I left it.

Are you using the AU or VST? Do any other plugins do this or is it just Alchemy?
