Problem with bitcrusher

Whenever I use Ableton's bitcrusher (redux) on a synth or whatnot, the exported file sounds very different than what I was hearing in Ableton. Any idea why this is and how to fix it?

are you recording in 48 or 96khz sample rates?

when you export to 44.1 khz you're changing the dynamics of the audio. maybe the space is being utilized by bitcrusher and lost on export??
