DJM 900 and The Bridge

Post by marlsound » Fri Sep 09, 2011 12:14 pm

Hey guys...

Ive got my sl3 set up working with the bridge and my djm 900... however, im having a bit of trouble when it comes to listening to the mix that ive recorded as an .als file.

So basically ill open the file up in ableton ... the mix records all actions i do on my decks (scratching/cueing/beatmatching)... even when the fader on my mixer is down though... then all of my volumes, eqs, effects are not recorded...

I understand why... there is nothing recording the output from the mixer... but i wondered if there was any way to do this straight into ableton or into the als file i save from serato!? would be really handy... otherwise theres not much point in the 'mixtape' feature of the bridge!!!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

At present, only two mixers will record all actions in to Live.

That's the Rane Sixty Eight or the Rane TTM 57SL, as stated here ->http://www.ableton.com/pages/the_bridge/tour/mixtape

When (if?) Serato & Ableton ever do introduce Itch support, then that list will expand
to some/all of the Itch compatible hardware too.

A&H Xone:DX, Pioneer DDJ-S1, Novation Twitch, Numark NS6, Vestax VCI-300 and so on. Which of those will/won't - who knows?

[LATER] I guess you haven't bothered reading the DJM900 manual?

You need to take a look at the MIDI functionality, that sends MIDI info from either the MIDI out socket, or the USB connection, when the MIDI button is engaged.....

thanks for the reply. No i didnt 'bother' reading the manual ... but i sorted out the issue and midi mapped everything i needed to from the mixer to ableton whilst recording in serato.

However, the problem still lies in that whatever is played out of the mixer is not recorded... so i have done the following. I downloaded a driver that allows me to use the sl3 as an external soundcard for ableton. Is there any way i can play my set in ableton, use eqs and effects from the mixer, and record it back into ableton or into another program (audacity?) too?

cheers love marls xxx
