iPad 2, MIDI and OSC [Technical question]

Hello,

I am about to buy an iPad 2 to use with Ableton Live 8, and I have a question about this.

The matter: my MacBook Pro has only 2 native USB ports, and they are already used by 2 MIDI controllers (an M-Audio O2 and an UC-33E). There is no space for the iPad 2 as an USB device.

My question: would the iPad be able to send MIDI/OSC signals if plugged into the MacBook Pro microphone input?

Or - if not -: is there another workaround for this? The point is that I CANNOT plug the iPad into an USB port.

I have thought about a MIDI "bridge" from the iPad Camera Connection Kit to the MIDI input of the M-Audio O2, but I don't know how to do this..

People usually connect via wifi . Either on a network or adhoc.

Given the battery life on those things, you should be able to have untethered fun forever haha
