what the hell is happening with this forum?
is it PMSing again now that all the Mac vs. PC threads have died?

Ha! Oh, that blew the coffee out of me!

Thinking also about Adams question and: Didn't the forum change during and after the famous operator weekend? Did that divide people into frustrated fractions that are now (no, not all, always never all and never always) taking things out on newcomers and less experienced people? Or trying to regain authority that got lost during the debacle?
Well, that does not help, but as I am just now forced to rethink things in my own life and behaviour and expectations in large (that's not operator ralated!), I keep wondering about things like this.

Think I'll go fishing.

that is true - there has been a shift after Operator was introduced. it seems that there is usually one combative thread active. the Operator debate got played out, so it went on to MC vs PC and so forth.

Stumbeld over the old "I Talk To The Wind" (Ian McDonald and Peter Sinfield, was on the first King Crimson).
Felt... well:
I'm on the outside looking inside
What do I see
Much confusion, disillusion
All around me
[...]
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind...
A new version by All Human Parts Orchestra here:

Think a prefer the original but anyway, nice to hear it again.

Great song. That takes me back to high school/college days.
I'm pretty new to the forum. I read to learn some stuff. I have the read the full fucking manual and am reading Power. I guess that's nerdy, but I don't feel the need to ask too many questions.
What I don't understand is why people take the questions personally. If you don't think the question is worth shit, rather than say RTFM, why not just ignore it?
There are some difficult things to understand even with the manual. Some of the questions have been decent (and some really ridiculous), but I have seen RTFM even to legitimate questions.
I don't like to have to weed through the arguments to get a morsel of info.
BTW--Operator is great. I don't buy the theory that Operator has fractured the forum. I just think that some folks like to make themselves feel better by belittling others. (I must say I get a laugh at some of the digs, but it's not worth my time to have to weed through all the BS).

oh yeah
One more thing. What keeps me from contributing more on the forum is that some of the questions are not specific enough to be understandable. I attribute it to one of two things. Either my knowledge level isn't enough to understand the question or the question is not stated clearly enough.
Either way, I'm unable to contribute.
Maybe people would be less frustrated by questions if they were framed better.

You are welcome to contribute!
Trying to contribute, I have experienced, may make me learn things myself.
About posting questions: Sometimes I wish there was a panel sort of input with required fields like OS, reference to manual and topic sorting ones like audio hardware, routing, midi...
The site would then sort the questions into appropriate forums.
