'too many scenes' revisited - using full Live files in Intro

I found a thread on this earlier, but could not seem to find any way to respond to the thread on the page, so please excuse my noobness at starting another...

It appears that based on everything I've read, I've discovered the following:

1. I do not personally need any more "Live" than Intro offers, which is nice. I think.
2. I have a bunch of older Ableton 6.x full Live files that I worked on with a friend a year ago or so, and would like to be able to open and possibly edit in Intro.
3. I realize that it's going to warn me that Intro can only support up to 8 Session View Scenes
4. I don't NEED even 1 scene!
5. I don't care if I can use ANY Vst's.

So I purchased Intro 8.

This may have you all wondering why the heck I use Live at all, then. This is because there are several things in Live, regarding its time stretchiness of loops, and how the built-in Live effects work on clips over time, that I really dig, and haven't found as easy to use in other programs. In other words - I just need to use a few tracks in Live, with Clips, pretty much ever (since it is not my primary daw), which I then feed via Rewire to PT or Reaper.

I have come to the conclusion that
a. I can still open and use most of the older 6.x. full Live files, because I never use Scenes at all - but
b. I can't save any of them, even if I delete ALL the Scenes after opening them - and use zero VST's. None of them have external VST's used in them anyway.

This is really annoying.

Am I wrong? Is there some way around this, other than finding a person who owns 6.x full Live or later, and having them open them, go in, and delete all the Scenes for me (which incidentally, are blank, and I think might have been created by default), then re-save the files?
