Multiple outputs for VSTs, such as BFD drums!

Post by parable66 » Mon Feb 21, 2005 4:18 am

Hi, i got one more thing i wish i could make happen in live... I would love to be able to take the multiple outputs of BFD drums and set them all to different tracks....snare to a track, kick to a track, overheads to a track, and so on. BFD is certanly capable of this, but ableton appears to not...Pro tools can do it, but i just dont want to have to go to PT just to make a drum track... why cant i do it in ABLETON?

I'm a DFH superior user but I have a feeling it works much the same for multi out...

Here goes..... first off delete all but 1 MIDI track....drop in the BFD plug into that track.

insert lets say 8-10 audio tracks.......

For each audio track, set audio from to ( MIDI-1)

when this is selected, the list of multiple outs of BFD should appear just below. go to each audio track and select an out put from BFD.
Kick snare etc.....

Be sure to have each audio tracks monitor button on the hear audio from BFD.

Send it some MIDI by turning on the MIDI REC enable switch from MIDI track 1

and you should be rockin!!

Hope this helps,

regards,

hi parable.

how you manage the mono Outputs in the BFD All plugIn (out 7-16) ?
no probs here with the stereo outs OH, Room and PZM. (Out 1-2, 3-4, 5-6)
but i can only choose stereo inputs from BFD.
for example the kicks. (BFD Out 7-8 )
i get
Kick In on the left side, Kick Out on the right side.
or the Snare Drums
SD Bottom left, SD Top Right....and so on.

how i can separate the Outputs and send SD Bottom to a "mono" channel and SD Top to another "mono" channel ?

thank you,
tomac

Sorry to revive an almost one year old thread, but I'm having this identical problem with BFD (and at least I used the search function first!).

Any solution to getting Live 5.2 to show the mono outs from BFD, rather than only stereo pairs? Having the kick hard panned left or right is certainly oddball, but a little useless for me.

Thanks for any help!

just a quick thought but you have a plugin which only presents stereo pairs and you want to split one side off, use a Utility plugin on the monitoring audio track, turn off the side you dont want .

Good sir, I owe you a beer. It's a little convoluted, but it gets the job done. Now I'll just make a template song and work from that from now on.

Thanks!!!
