How to switch MIDI-Data Recording in Clips off?

Post by Sebadubee » Sun Sep 25, 2011 8:30 pm

Hey!

Here is what I want to do: Record a small MIDI-clip of 2 bars on a MIDI-track with a VST, lets say NIs Massive, on it. Then, while looping the MIDI-clip, I want to slowly morph through different sounds, using MIDI-messages which are interpreted by Massive (mapped to the 8 macro controls). That is for example, I want to turn a knob over the duration of 16 bars to turn down the cutoff frequency.

Unfortunately, even though I did not touch the knobs of my controller during recording the MIDI-clip, it does record the initial state and jumps back to that position whenever the 2-bar-loop jumps back to 1.

Strangely, that does not happen with all controllers. It happens with controllers on CC 15-21, but doesnt happen with a controller on CC 14. Recorded MIDI-data is completely on channel 1.

Of course, I turned the "MIDI-overwrite"-button off. The problem is still there.

Does anybody know how I can prevent Live from recording inactive controllers? Or, as a second strategy, from recording controllers at all?

Thanks
Sebastian
