Slice to midi doesn't appear in dropdown?

*disclaimer* I am a total noob and have very little idea what I'm doing with my new Launchpad and (full version of) Live8. All apologies.*

I'd like to try out the slice to midi feature, but I can't seem to get the option in the dropdown menu. I tried following the instruction in the pdf manual and a YouTube video or two about slicing...

I've got my audio file in a track and I've looped the segment I'd like sliced in the sample editor, but there's no option to select.

Have I a) used the wrong file type? b)insufficiently marked my warp positions or not added enough of them? c) selected too long of a loop? I can't seem to figure it out. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

It should be very simple. If you're using Sampler, right click directly on the sample and select Slice to Midi.
