Best way to record hardware synth controller changes?
Best way to record hardware synth controller changes?
Hi guys,
my regular way to build a track is to collect ideas in the clip view and connect the softsynths with my keyboard controllers. Then I record while switching the clips and moving the controllers. Working just fine for softsynths.
But how can I record continuous controller changes for my hardware gear (as automation)? Knob movement of the synths is only recorded to clips, but not in the arrangement view. Same appears to modwheel, pitchwheel and aftertouch.
Is it possible to record controllers at all?
Thanks,
Marco

controllers in arrangement are recorded as midi clip enveloppes, not ableton real automation

Yes, that's what I wrote
Is there a way to record midi controllers for a complete track?

In the midi clip On that track
Re: Best way to record hardware synth controller changes?
Ok, but then I have to know the midi clips length BEFORE recording. Because if my clip is lets say 2 measures long the recorded controller modulation will be overwritten each 2 measures, no?
I want the clip to loop all the time but the controllers recorded independent from the clips length. Exactly like automation is recorded. But I guess that's not possible?
