Battery 3 and padkontrol

Post by emotionz22 » Mon Oct 10, 2011 9:40 pm

so i know how to load up my own sounds or drums in the cells but my pads are not synched to all the cells
and on my padkontrol i know how to change the notes but i just want a regular scale with all the white and black keys on my padkontrol and synch to battery cells...i hope you can understand what im trying to explain lol...

another question is should i even use battery because i love the sounds and the fact that it can load my sounds into kits to.. but recording individually in live is going to be hard or impossible...for example i want to use the features in live like EQ8 individually like on the drums, hi hats, snare, clap...but when using battery everything is on one track

if you go into your cell page in battery right where it tells you which note the cell is assigned to their is a button called learn click it then press a pad on your padkontroll and it will be mapped to it.

still in the cell page, if you look to the right, just bellow the fader you will see a drop down menu it probably says master, if you click on their you can send the cell out to any of battery's outputs.

then you just drop an audio channel into ableton bring up the i/o configuration, select "audio from" battery then the drop down menu bellow will allow you to select a channel. just repeat this for however many sounds you want comming out of their own channels.

Thank you but here is a statement someone made who had the same problem after finding out that you can midi learn the pads

"ok but the most annoying thing is having to do this exercise (pressing learn to assign 16 pads) everytime i load a battery instrument. is there a way where you can save the settings so you can load it up without spending 10 minutes? each time it takes a real chunk out of work flow"

is there any solution?

If you know how to change the notes on the PadKontrol then why not set up one of its scenes so that all the pads correspond to the default 4x4 Battery grid note assignment? This would only take a few minutes directly on the PadKontrol once and then anytime you fired up Battery and loaded your sounds you would be able to use PadKontrol straight away (just switch to your Battery scene).

I've done this to have dedicated scenes for Battery, Drum Racks, Impulse (2 instances in 1 padkontrol scene), Addictive Drums, etc.
