As a hardworking new dad, the only time I have that might be described as 'spare' to do music stuff is sat on trains for several hours a week.
In Live I mostly work (on hip-hop beats, mostly) with samples and loops (my own from vinyl and purchased), and BFD for non-sampled drums, with the odd soft-synth for bass or decoration.
Lugging my personal laptop as well as work stuff around every day is not really an attractive option. I might want an iPad anyway, but before I spend the equivalent of an analogue synth or loads of good plug-ins on one I'm trying to think about if/how I might actually use it as more than just a fun toy. Most of the apps I've seen are things like iElectribe or iMS-20 that look cool and fun but I've no idea about the practicality of integrating what I might create on them with a home-based Live set.
Does anyone have views on/experience of doing stuff on iPad and transferring to/integrating with a Live set back at base later? Any tips on example apps and methodology appreciated.

ive been using iMS20 to make some nice drum sounds / loops, and other apps (synthX mostly) to make patches that i can easily run some midi through to get some nice basslines / pads.
great for planes and airports. that what you mean?
