Under-desk keyboard shelf

Post by Punky921 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 8:28 pm

Does anyone know how to make one of these cheaply or buy one for a reasonable price? I need something to throw my MIDI keyboard onto and stow away when I'm not using it.

How large is your keyboard? Ikea sells a sliding shelf for $10 that should be able to hold a 25 key.

I use this for my Korg microKontrol (3 octave mini keys) which is a little bit
wider than a standard keyboard with 25 full size keys. So it should work with a
microKorg, too

I've got a Remote 25 SL and an Akai MPK49.

Can you link me to the ikea shelf?

Is it this one? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50086690/

It doesn't look really playable - like it looks like if I lean too hard on it, it'll break.

I use one in my studio, it's sturdier than it looks.

Cool! Good to know.

How does it affix to your desk? You screw it in?

Yes, you screw it in. There are different screws in the package.
Don't know if it can take you leaning on it when it is fully
pulled out, but it can definetely take some keyboard playing.

I have 2 100 buck systems I bought a few years ago. I just removed them and Bolted a Home depot shelf to the underside. Honestly, my keyboard was never moved, no no point in having the movable drawer

I like the idea of being able to slide it back, so I can DJ on the surface of the table. (I DJ as well)
