How to save samples that I've edited/created?

Post by RottenToTheGore » Wed Oct 19, 2011 6:38 pm

Sorry for the RTFM type question, I don't have the manual in front of me and this question is driving me nuts.

So say I load up a drum rack, drag a sample on there, some effects, and then have it play to an audio track. From there I want to save that new sound to .wav. How would I go about saving it?

Thanks!

You could solo the track its on. for windows select the recorded clip and Ctrl+L to loop is then Crt+shift+r to render it out to a folder of your choice or right click on the audio clip and select (show in browser) it will show the file in the right hand side browser window. right click this and select open in Exploerer. an exploerer window will open with the file highlighted. go back to Ableton and delete the audio from the agganre or clip window as this will now allow you to move cut and or copy the audio from its current location in the explorer window and put it where you want.
Maybe a good suggestion for future Ableton features would be a save audio to library feature.
You can grab your audio clip and drag it to a location in the Ableton browser but it results in a .alc file and not a .wav which is a pain if you want the audio for other programs. Another option is to have you external audio editor set up and when you click on audio to edit externally save it from that program.

Ah! This is what I do right now, but I thought I was over complicating it.

Thanks!

No the simple version is the drag to browser which is all well and good so long as you only plan on bringing audio back in to your Ableton projects on the same machine. But thats pants ;)
