Auido Engine Failure During Set Loading.
I'm running Live Intro 8.2.6 on a system with an Intel Core i3-2310M (2.10 Ghz.), 64 bit Windows 7 and no external sound card. For the last few weeks I've been getting an issue where anytime I attempt to load a set, Live will give me an error message saying the audio engine is not responding, and then crash. I can load the template set, and even load older sets, regardless of their size, but I can't save anything new and load it later. What I have to do at present is disable the audio engine upon startup, load the set, then re-enable the engine, and things more or less work. Is this just a processing power issue or something similar? I get that my current setup isn't high-end at all, but up to this point I could run Live just fine, albeit with a fair bit a latency. I also don't think this is a problem with the recent update, because it was the same on 8.2.5.

Re: Auido Engine Failure During Set Loading.
If your processor is a Core 2 Duo or later (yours falling under the later category) then it is most likely not a processing power deficiency. More likely is that you are running the bare minimum for RAM in a 64-bit operating environment and experiencing buffer overflows and the like, causing Live to straight wig the fuck out. If you're at 4gb or less of RAM, especially without a dedicated sound card to offload work to, then I'm willing to bet that's your dilemma.

Ha. Thanks, that was very helpful. I do have slightly under 4 gb of usable Ram, so that sounds like the issue. I'm guessing then that getting an external soundcard/interface would alleviate the issue to a degree then? I had been planning on getting one anyway (I was leaning towards the NI Komplete Audio 6).pwoolar wrote:If your processor is a Core 2 Duo or later (yours falling under the later category) then it is most likely not a processing power deficiency. Well I have a similar system except I do have an external soundcard. What pwoolar said may make some sense but I would guess that Live 8.2.6 is seriously f*cked up. Things weren't perfect for me with 8.2.5 but they were a lot better than they are now. This version reminds me of earlier versions of Live 8 where it would crash if you looked at it 'the wrong way'. Crash scanning plugins. Crash loading a previously working live set. Crash when dragging one file from a previously working live set into a New Live Set. Audio engine f*ckups, where the only remedy is to restart your Laptop. Etc, etc, etc.Dr. Lakata wrote:I'm running Live Intro 8.2.6 on a system with an Intel Core i3-2310M (2.10 Ghz.), 64 bit Windows 7 and no external sound card. In short, it's probably f*ck all to do with your RAM or lack of a dedicated soundcard. I've used ASIO4ALL. I purchased a new Roland soundcard to replace my 'dodgy' Toneport UX1 soundcard. Thing is, it always come back to Ableton as the source of all my woes.
yours,
Pissed off.
I'll leave it there. I have a little more to say but it involves a lot of bad words!
