Live Crash Reporting: bad implementation

Post by Harry_ » Sat Oct 22, 2011 12:50 pm

I´ve stated this same thing earlier and do it again: if you want to improve the Live and get
feedback about crashes from your customer, such as me, you shoud first fix your crash reporting system.
And what´s wrong with the present one:
1) After the crash when open next time time Live, there´s a Report A Crash box in the right side whichs says the crash report file name and there´s a link to you mail box. But when I click the link, it just opens the Outlook mail box in my computer - and I dont use Outlook but the hotmail, and there´s not an option choose which mailbox in connected to this link. And dont tell me about the computer settings, Ableton should just put just there an option that the user could connect his mailbox to this link and the reporting could happens just by clicking this link and sending the mail.

2) Now, because the previous is not possible at the moment, I try to locate the crash report in my computer which name you say in the Report A Crash Box but my computer "search" has difficulties to the file of this name. And I can´t remember where in my computer the logs/crash report the Live puts (typically when I open the Live user manual index and using the key word "crash report" to find information about that, Live´s manul index doesn´t have any key word "crash report" althoug Live uses
this term. Fix also your uers manual, please!

3) So, if you REALLY want co-opperate with your customer and improve the Live, you make the crash reporting much easier than it is now.

BTW, this is third time I make this suggestion without any response, which doesn´t give very good impression about Ableton sensitivity to improve this VERY MINOR from the developers side but most important feature form the 1) user´s side, 2) in terms of genereal development of the program.
