Hi,
basically Master & Pre-Listen are just busses that can be routed to one of the stereo outputs provided from the currently used audio interface.
Example1: Assuming an interface with 4 (or more) mono channels....
you can set the Master to the first stero channel and the Pre-Listen bus to the second stereo channel. (inside the Audio part of the Live's Preferences dialog).
Example2: Assuming an interface with just 2 mono channels (= 1 stereo)..
In this case the routing is fixed. Pre-Listen and Master are routed to this one stereo out.
If the Pre-Listen is routed to the same bus like Master, the Pre_Listen works like a Solo. (always in Example2, but also possible in Example1 if Master = Pre-Listen).
BTW. the pre-Listen/Solo functionality will be changed a little bit in version 2.0.
regards,
Alex
